Coming Soon: now to then

One of the reasons I created Janes scenic drive is to experiment with the long-form ambient drone. And that’s exactly what now to then is; at the moment, it’s about 58 minutes in length.

Unfortunately, I may have to split it into two parts to allow upload at Bandcramp (boo!), but it will be one file at Archive.org (yay!).

Look for it to be released soon.

Q. Was there a typo in there somewhere?
A. Nope.

Released: color of heaven

The first release by Janes scenic drive is now available for download.

A name-your-price option is also available in a plethora of download formats:

Although the tracks on this initial release by Janes scenic drive can be broadly categorized as ambient, they are on the farther reaches of that general genre. They reflect many of the traits commonly found in abstract ambient, industrial ambient, dark ambient, isolationist ambient, and experimental ambient.

I suspect this will be the nature of most of the music published as Janes scenic drive. The emphasis here is atmosphere, texture, abstraction, a present state of mind, and the capture of feelings that are better communicated through music than words.

Coming Soon: color of heaven

The debut release from Janes scenic drive is tentatively entitled: color of heaven.

The release will include ambient tracks that are atmospheric, evocative, and reminiscent of something lost.

Here is a sample track from the release, entitled: Other Travellers

A New Year and a New Name

In 2011, I will begin releasing additional music as: Janes scenic drive

Janes scenic drive focuses on exploring ambient music, namely: improvisational ambient, industrial ambient, abstract ambient, and experimental ambient. I intend Janes scenic drive to take me in new directions (at least for me) that will, hopefully, inform and expand my PW efforts.

Music released as Janes scenic drive will be Creative Commons and netlabel music.

Janes scenic drive releases will be hosted at Archive.org (Amorphos Music), at Bandcamp, and at SoundCloud.

I will continue to release ambient music as Phillip Wilkerson, and in 2011, you can expect two major netlabel releases at Earth Mantra (hopefully) and on CD. One of those is a collaboration with Lucette Bourdin (you heard it here first!).

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2011!

Note – The name, Janes scenic drive is a reference to Janes Scenic Drive in the Fakahatchee Strand and Picayune Strand in Southwest Florida.
